A passion for game dev and sharing knowledge

My name is Gísli and I’m a game developer from Iceland. I’ve worked on games since 2007 and have done everything from customer support to founding my own company.

Through my career, I found that my favorite projects are the ones where I can both learn and share my experiences with others.

I want this web page to be a hub where I can share my YouTube training material, my work notes and anything that might be useful to others!

Expertise

Unreal Engine Expertise

I’ve been an Unreal Developer since UE3 and released a number of games through the years. I have broad knowledge of the engine with a particular focus on multiplayer and mmo games.

Game Architecture

A key factor in finishing a project is making sure that all the pieces are in the right spot and are correctly connected together.

Productization

I’ve seen many good ideas fail because the team can’t make the jump from project to product.  Often its just a small shift in focus  that is needed to get on the path to success.

Training

Powerful tools are only valuable if their power can be used by the end user. I train developers in using modern tools and methods to ensure that they can work as effectively as possible.

Developer Experience

People are the most valuable resource in game development. I work with teams to ensure that they have what they need to work together and are working towards the common goal.

Tools and infrastructure

Many developers spend valuable time on tasks that should be automated. I help teams identify these tasks and how build an environment where the developers can focus on building games and everything “just works”.

About Me

My experience combines technical skills with creative aspects like design and direction. This mix lets me contribute to any project stage, solving problems or bringing creative ideas.

I believe in continuous learning and enjoy linking the technical with the creative in gaming and other fields like film and architecture.

Sharing this knowledge, especially with newcomers, through presentations is rewarding for me. It's important to keep the passion for game development alive and enjoy the process.
