Gísli Konráðsson

With nearly two decades of experience in game development, my expertise spans a wide array of genres, including FPS, MMO, strategy, and card games, developed for diverse platforms such as mobile, VR, AR, PC, and consoles.

My career has afforded me the opportunity to work with teams globally, across Europe, the US, and Asia.

Beyond my development work, I am deeply passionate about mentoring and knowledge-sharing within the industry.

The Games

I've been fortunate enough to work on a variety of games over the years. Some of them got a lot of public attention and are played by millions. But in between I’ve also worked on projects with smaller teams and tighter budgets.

I've worked on teams that tackled some of the gaming industry's most challenging technical problems. But my experience isn't just rooted in technicalities; I've also embraced the more creative and artistic aspects of game development, from creative direction to visual design.

This blend of the technical and creative has given me a unique skill set. I'm can contribute to projects at any stage of their life-cycle, offering insights and solutions that draw from a broad range of experiences. Whether a project needs complex problem-solving or creative innovation, I'm ready to add value with a balanced approach that combines the best of both worlds.

Sharing knowledge

I've always believed that continuously growing our knowledge is the key to long term success. But its not always easy for teams to carve out the time needed to learn new things. For me, there's a real thrill in connecting the dots between the technical and creative worlds within the gaming industry.

Lately, I've seen so many opportunities to bridge the gaps in knowledge between different fields like games, film, and architecture. Each industry has its own strengths, and by sharing insights and techniques, we can push the boundaries of what's possible.

It's this passion for cross-disciplinary learning and collaboration that drives me to explore new horizons and bring fresh perspectives to the table.

Public speaking

I love to give presentations about my career and the projects I'm involved in. There's something really rewarding about sharing my experiences and the lessons I've learned along the way.

What excites me the most is the chance to inspire not just the seasoned pros in the game development world but especially those who are just starting out. Seeing the spark of inspiration in someone who's taking their first steps into the industry reminds me of why I started in the first place.

It's about passing on the passion, the challenges, and the triumphs that come with creating games.

Making games is hard so you have to remember to enjoy it.
